The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) has announced its new executive board members. They include Steve Babaeko as president, Mr. Jenkins Alumona as Vice President, Mr. Kayode Ebatamehi as Honorary Treasurer, Mrs. Tope Jemerigbe as Publicity Secretary, and Mrs. Tola Obi as Assistant Publicity Secretary.

 

MedContour CEO, Dr. Anu Adepoju, arrested and arraigned. 

The CEO of MedContour, Dr. Anu Adepoju, has been arrested and charged to court under criminal charges of failure to comply with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC)’s requirements in an investigation; appear & provide info relevant to the ongoing investigation. 

Dr. Anu’s Office was sealed two months ago by the FCCPC, after several complaints from different people that the activities of the plastic surgery clinic are not only unprofessional and misleading but potentially harmful to health.

 

Gap and Kanye West sign a 10-year deal for “Yeezy-Gap” Apparel Line.

American Clothing and Accessories Retailer, Gap signed a ten-year deal with Kanye West to design a brand new line, the Yeezy-Gap Apparel, that will deliver modern, elevated basics for men, women, and kids at accessible price points.

Kanye West took to Twitter to announce the deal and also the appointment of  Nigerian-British designer Mowalola Ogunlesi as Design Director of Yeezy Gap.

Gap plans to have Yeezy Gap in stores and online from 2021 and hopes that it will be generating $1 billion in annual sales at the 5-year point.

Opay in an official statement released via its social media platforms on Thursday, 9th July, announced that it is putting a pause to business units such as Oride, Ocar, and OExpress. The company cited the harsh business conditions occasioned by the COVID-19 Pandemic, the lockdown, and government ban as the cause.  

However, it’s payment platform Opay, which recorded a 44% growth in the first quarter of this year, will remain in operation. 

Seplat/ NNPC donates 1.2 million dollars to Imo state.

Seplat Oil and Gas in collaboration with NNPC have announced a donation of 1.2 million dollars towards the construction of an infectious disease medical center in Imo state.

 

FCMB to acquire AIICO Pension.

FCMB Group has entered an agreement for the acquisition of a 70% stake of AIICO Pension and 26% of minority controlled shares, which will make the cumulative sale to 96%.

“After the proposed sale, AIICO Pension will no longer be a subsidiary of AIICO Insurance says Donald Kanu, AIICO Insurance Company secretary, in a signed statement. 

 

MTN Foundation Invests N247 Million in the Fight Against Substance Abuse.

The telecommunication giant, MTN, says it has invested an estimated sum of 247million through its Foundation for awareness campaigns against Substance Abuse and has reportedly impacted 13.5 million people.

 

Multichoice May Not Renew EPL and UEFA Championship Rights.

Football lovers in Nigeria may not be able to watch soccer championships games on DSTV as Multichoice, the parent company of DSTV and Supersport, is considering not renewing the rights to English Premier League and UEFA after the 2020/21 season.

This situation is due to the rising cost of international sports rights and the continued devaluation of the Naira against other major currencies.

Netflix Appoints Bozoma Sait John as New CMO.

Bozoma Sait John appointed as the new Chief Marketing Officer of Netflix. She has become the streaming giant’s third CMO in bearly a year. She succeeded Jackie Lee Joe in a time where leading companies are working hard to have diversity across all levels.

Bozoma has previously worked in companies like PepsiCo, Apple, and Endeavor.

Omnicom Wins Big as Peugeot ends 30 Years Working Relationship with Havas.

Peugeot has parted ways with BETC and Havas after 30years. The French Automobile company has now signed a contract of 3-years with Omnicom; the appointment is to help Peugeot create a bespoke agency named O.P.E.N (Omnicom for Peugeot Engine) which will be tasked to support Peugeot in its marketing and advertising communications from June 1, 2021. 

 

Former Ogilvy CEO joins S4 Capital.

Former Ogilvy CEO Miles Young has joined the UK Media Company S4 Capital as a Non-Executive director. Miles has previously worked as CEO for Ogilvy in 2008 to 2016.
