At Live with Lynda, we’re always excited to spotlight creative projects that dare to tell bold, authentic stories. That’s why we’re thrilled to share news of Zikoko Life — Big Cabal Media’s upcoming anthology film series that promises to shake up the Nigerian storytelling space in the best way possible.
Set to premiere this July on Zikoko’s YouTube channel, Zikoko Life brings to life the emotional, intimate, and complex journeys of Nigerian women who are constantly negotiating agency in a world that demands they shrink themselves. Inspired by Zikoko’s acclaimed editorial series — Naira Life, Sex Life, and Love Life — this anthology is a cinematic expansion of stories that have long resonated with Zikoko readers.
What makes Zikoko Life special?
Created by Anita E. Eboigbe for Big Cabal Media and produced by Blessing Uzzi for BluHouse Studios, Zikoko Life is, in Eboigbe’s words, “a cinematic, beautiful, and disruptive space for real-life truths to breathe.” It’s a visual universe that honours the lived experiences Zikoko has always championed — but this time, through the power of film.
The anthology features three standalone films — each one an emotional time capsule exploring themes we rarely see treated with such nuance on Nigerian screens.
The Films
What’s Left of Us
When Mariam, a married woman, decides to stop having children, the fabric of her life starts to come apart. Inspired by Marriage Story and Revolutionary Road, this film dives into the quiet unraveling of a marriage, filtered through the lens of Nigerian domestic politics and body autonomy.
Starring: Caleb Richards, Tolu Asanu
Directed by: Victor Daniel & Olamide Adio
“We wanted to show how economic disparity becomes a tool of control in marriages. It’s also about body autonomy — what happens when a woman says no, even in marriage?” — Victor Daniel
My Body
A newlywed couple is forced to reexamine everything they thought they knew about sex, desire, and faith when they struggle to consummate their marriage.
Starring: Andrew Yaw Bunting, Uzoamaka Power
Directed by: Uzoamaka Power
“Too often, we hear things like ‘she can just lie there and let him take it.’ This film imagines something better — a way forward where a woman is truly seen and understood.” — Uzoamaka Power
Something Sweet
A woman in her 40s falls for a younger man, opening her life to joy — and judgment.
Starring: Michelle Dede, Ogranya, Oladozie Chiedoziem, Kanyinsola Erogbogbo
Directed by: Dika Ofoma
“Love doesn’t end at a certain age. You can still feel butterflies in your 40s. You can still choose.” — Dika Ofoma
Why We’re Excited
At Live with Lynda, we believe in storytelling that is fearless, relatable, and rooted in truth. Zikoko Life does just that — challenging stereotypes, celebrating complexity, and giving voice to the lived realities of African women.
As Uzzi, the producer, so beautifully put it:
“These aren’t just films. They’re emotional time capsules. They are our stories — not imported, not idealized.”
We can’t wait to see the films and the conversations, reflections, and shifts this anthology will spark across the continent and beyond.
📌 Zikoko Life premieres this July on Zikoko’s YouTube channel.
Let’s show up for it. Let’s keep amplifying the stories that matter.
