Do you know how small the BMW Isetta is? It is so tiny! Yet a brave man, Klaus-Günter Jacobi, determined to help his friend flee East Germany, smuggled him and nine others across the Berlin wall with the BMW Isetta.
Being a mechanic, Jacobi modified his tiny car so that a human can fit into the small engine space. He almost shit his pants at the border but eventually made it through, even with the guard dogs barking because well, the car was too small to warrant a lot of scrutinies.
Unfortunately, BMW no longer makes the Isetta, but that didn’t stop them from telling this amazing brand story.
Last year, 30 years after the barrier separating the city (Berlin) and country (Germany) came down, BMW commemorated the anniversary with this emotional video.
